Thome reaches 500 HR milestone

Jim Thome was 0-for-4 when he stepped to the plate with the score knotted at 7 in the bottom of the ninth. With a runner on, he cracked a 3-2 pitch off Dustin Moseley for his 500th career homer, capping Chicago's rally from a 7-1 deficit.Thome became the first player in MLB history to have his 500th HR be of the walk-off variety. He's the 23rd member of the 500-HR club and the third this season (Alex Rodriguez and Frank Thomas). Thome made it to the plateau in 6,809 at-bats, the fourth-fewest among members of the 500-homer club behind Mark McGwire (5,487), Babe Ruth (5,801) and Harmon Killebrew (6,671).
